A message from editor Rich Chamberlain
I love football, but there’s a part of me that always yearns for the football of the past. The days before VAR, clubs having five shirts every season, matches kicking off at any time other than 3PM on a Saturday.
If, like me, you remember Fantasy Football League, Sensible Soccer, the days when footballers would head down the pub after a match, the Cup Winners’ Cup, football shirts so baggy you could get lost in them and so bright that you needed sunglasses to look at them, then Before The Game Was Gone is the place for you.
This website is a homage to football of the 80s, 90s and 00s. It is the home of retro football.
